We are often asked about the various Oracle License Agreements that need to be accepted with new software purchases. Traditionally the Oracle license agreement was known as the Oracle Licence & Service Agreement (OLSA) and was either accepted on-line or by signing a hard copy.
Several years ago the OLSA was replaced by the Transactional Oracle Master Agreement (TOMA), which again can be accepted on-line, or by signing a hard copy. As before a TOMA needs to be accepted with all new Oracle license purchases.
For frequent license purchasers it is possible to sign a Oracle Master Agreement (OMA) which covers purchases for a 5 year period and simplifies the process as only a Licence Definition & Rules document is required to be signed with all orders.
Most clients who require a legal review of all contracts before accepting tend to opt for the OMA. The LDR document is relatively straightforward and usually a specific license metric definition is relevant i.e Named User Plus or Processor.
There are other agreement’s, which cover Oracle’s Unbreakable Linux and VM.
